Guidance’s Early Stage – the first semester

Exactly nine months ago, the vision of "Guidance" was put into practice. Fortunately, dozens of applications for the program followed before the start of the winter semester 2020/21. Now we are pleased to be able to recapitulate the achievements of the successful first semester, along with some facts and figures:

In addition to the rapid growth, we are also very pleased to have the support of two ambitious Advisory Board members: MentorMe founder Karin Heinzel and PwC director Thomas Ravnsbaek Andersen.

Founding in extraordinary times

If we make the attempt to derive something positive from the Covid-19 pandemic, then it is probably the founding of Guidance Mentoring. Last summer a team of eight was gradually formed in Vienna. Our goal: to elaborate the missing elements in the developmental path of students of economics and at the same time creating a social benefit. Despite difficult circumstances, we managed to acquire 20 ambitious students as mentees, 17 experienced mentors from different industries and 5 NPOs for our program. Guidance considers itself as an intersection between all of those stakeholders and also includes successful speakers from business life.

Social Impact at the heart of the program

Commenting on the concept of the purpose-driven mentoring program, Felix Bruch (Managing Board) states: "Through our program, we create a dual social impact. On the one hand, we find suitable mentors for our 20 selected mentees, depending on their field of interest and individual personality. On the other hand, we scale our impact beyond our organizational boundaries through business-oriented NPO projects. We are active in more than five different countries." At the end of the program next summer, the generated social impact will be evaluated by means of a metrics system. "In this context, we are also hoping for a diagnosis of our potential for improvement in order to be able to sustainably professionalize our organization", adds fellow Executive Board member Hee-Won Han.

Outlook

For the following semester, we plan to organize further exciting workshops, among others, guests from London, New York and Tel Aviv have already been fixed for topics such as Management Consulting, Finance and Venture Capital.
